About the series
Breakthrough Comprehension is a series of three Workbooks specially developed
to meet the needs and interests of secondary school students in improving
and refining their comprehension skills.
The Workbooks use a range of modern strategies to help students improve
their reading and understanding of written texts. Structured, accessible
tasks develop the literal, inferential and evaluative comprehension skills
required for success in all school subjects, especially English.
The activities in the Workbooks include cloze exercises, discussion activities,
formulating open-ended and closed questions, genre identification, identifying
facts and opinions, identifying main ideas, justifying choices, level
1, 2, 3 comprehension, locating topic sentences, multiple-choice questions,

Author
Charles Maekivi has been a teacher of English for more than 20 years.
He has written texts for schools, magazine articles, and several works
of fiction, including the popular Rust: A collection of short stories.
