Heather Jones has a Master of Letters (High Distinction) in English and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of New England Armidale, She has written for EFL and ESL students in Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, Egypt and Turkey. She acts as an editing consultant for the People’s Education Press of China in kindergarten and primary courses and has over 12 years teaching experience in an Australian university, specialising in spoken and written English.

Jan Weeks is a teacher who has had years of experience in Australian schools. She has written more than fifty books that she hopes will enhance reading skills and promote a love of literature. Her published books include stories, songs, plays, and poems as well as resource books to help her fellow teachers in the classroom. She is married, has three sons and lives in a small town on the north coast of New South Wales, four hours drive from Sydney.

Firebird author Marian Waller

Marian Waller has twenty years experience, in Australia and overseas, teaching ESL/EFL to adults. Her publications include a children's picture book (The Leaping Llama Carpet, Allen & Unwin, 1995) and a number of beginner level readers for adult learners of English. She has postgraduate qualifications in linguistics, ESL, adult literacy and e-learning. She is currently employed writing adult ESL materials for the classroom.

Claire Craig has a Master of Arts (Hons) in English literature and has worked in publishing for 17 years. She has worked as a senior editor for a number of publishers including Harper Collins, Reader’s Digest and ABC Books. She is the Managing Editor of the headlights series. She has been writing for children and young adults for many years and has had six books published. Claire Craig has also been a radio presenter on community radio and has taught English literature to students from non-English language speaking backgrounds.

Island of Shadows author Sue Murray

Sue Murray is a writer and educator with a Master of Arts in creative writing and a Diploma in Education who has published several books for the education market, specialising in plays and drama teaching. Her latest work is a self-help book called The Parents’ Survival Guide to Year 12. Sue has taught in secondary and tertiary institutions and is now writing full-time. Raised in Perth, Western Australia, Sue now lives on Sydney’s northern beaches with her architect husband and their two young sons.

Murder on 45th Street author Laurent Boulanger

Laurent Boulanger is Australian Correspondent for Writers' News, UK's largest circulating magazine for writers. He is an internationally successful freelance writer and has taught at Victoria University (English for Specific Purpose, English for Academic Purpose), Cambridge International College (Test of English for International Communication preparation course), the Melbourne Language Centre (High School English preparation) and Auston Melbourne (relief ELICOS teacher). He holds an M.A. in Writing from Swinburne University and is currently working towards his Ph.D. in writing.

Deep Water author Pauline O’Carolan

Pauline O’Carolan has a BA in English Literature and Law, an MA in Creative Writing and a Diploma in Education. She is a qualified teacher but now works as Senior Editor for Lawbook Company. Pauline is a published author who has been writing stories, plays, and poems since the age of six. She specialises in the writing of crime fiction and thrillers, and is a member the crime-writing group Sisters in Crime. Pauline has travelled a great deal and lived in the village of Caterham, where The Watcher is set, and on an island very similar to Murray’s Island, the setting for Deep Water.

Wizard’s Children author Penelope Love

Penelope Love lives in Melbourne, Australia, and is the author of three published fantasy novels. She works in a university and writes in her spare time. She loves fantasy stories of all kinds, including books (Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings), animation (Studio Ghibli and Pixar), and video games (Zelda and Final Fantasy). When she first thought of Wizard's Children she planned to write it as a role-playing game, but decided to write it as a story instead. She is delighted that her book will be read by readers in Japan, as her sister teaches English in Okinawa.
